What is an Enduring Power of Attorney?

An Enduring Power of Attorney is one that continues after you lose the ability to make important decisions - for example if you are in a coma, have a stroke, or go insane.

Making an Enduring Power of Attorney allows you to choose who you wish to make financial decisions for you if you lose the ability to do this for yourself. It is a cheap and easy alternative to other forms of financial management.

If you just want someone to pay a few bills for you while you are on holiday then you should make a Power of Attorney (not an Enduring Power of Attorney).

If you want someone to make medical or lifestyle decisions while you are incapacitated then you should make a Living Will or appoint an Enduring Guardian
